Jessie Buie
- Born May 6, 1927
- Early education in traditional one-room schoolhouse in the Beulah Chapel M.B. Church
- Graduated Alexander High School in 1947
- Bachelors of Science from Benedict College in 1950, Masters of Science in Education from Jackson State University, further study at the University of Chicago
- Member of the paratrooper unit “Triple Nickel”, which was the nation’s first African American unit to be integrated into the regular army during WWII
- First African American to graduate from Alexander High School and return to be the Principal (19 years)
- Member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., NAACP (officer and member), Retired Teacher’s Association and founder of the Legacy in 2005
- Received “Jessie Buie Community Service Award” for his dedication to community service in Lincoln County
- Married to former Leatrice Collins; 6 children, 12 grandchildren
- Died May 13, 2010
