- First female officer of any of the armed services to be assigned to the position as Branch Chief, Message Processing Branch, Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff
- First African American female office to attend Naval War College
- First African American female to have a command within the Naval Telecommunications Command
- First African American female line officer to attain rank of Commander and Captain
- Wears the Defense Meritorious Service Medal Joint Commendation Medal and the National Defense Medal
- Retired from military service January 1, 1992
