  • Member of Alcorn Braves Football team and Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity
  • First African American to be elected to public office in Brookhaven (along with J.W. Morgan and Percy Rauls, Jr.)
  • Elected to Board of Alderman in 1977, serving people of Ward 3
  • Attended Gupton-Jones School of Mortuary Science in Atlanta, Georgia
  • Managed Williams Mortuary with his mother
  • President of the NAACP
