- First African American to be elected to public office in Brookhaven (along with J.W. Morgan and Percy Rauls, Jr.)
- Elected to Board of Alderman in 1977, serving people of Ward 3
- Attended Gupton-Jones School of Mortuary Science in Atlanta, Georgia
- Managed Williams Mortuary with his mother
